Counselling in Taunton & Online

Neurodiversity-affirming therapy for adults and young people

You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed or burnt out. Perhaps relationships have become difficult, you’re feeling stuck, or you’re trying to understand why some aspects of life seem to take so much out of you.

You might also be newly diagnosed with ADHD or Autism, wondering whether you could be neurodivergent, or beginning to make sense of yourself after years of feeling somehow different.

Whatever has brought you here, you don’t need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy.

I’m Aga Kaperek, a BACP-registered integrative counsellor based in Taunton, Somerset. I offer face-to-face counselling in central Taunton, as well as online and telephone therapy for adults and young people.

Counselling that meets you where you are

There isn’t one right way to do therapy.

My approach is integrative, which means our sessions are shaped around you — your needs, your pace and the way you make sense of the world.

We might spend time talking and exploring thoughts, emotions, relationships or patterns that have developed over time. I can also draw on cognitive approaches, mindfulness and creative ways of working where these feel useful.

You might know exactly what you want help with, or you might simply know that something isn’t quite working. Both are perfectly good places to begin.

ADHD, Autism & Neurodivergence

I have a particular interest in working with Autistic and ADHD adults and young people, including people diagnosed later in life and those exploring whether they may be neurodivergent.

You don’t need a formal diagnosis to work with me.

Therapy might involve exploring masking, burnout, overwhelm, sensory and emotional needs, relationships, identity or self-understanding. It can also offer space to make sense of what it means to discover your neurodivergence after spending years wondering why certain things seemed harder for you than for other people.

My approach is neurodiversity-affirming. I don’t see neurodivergence as something that needs to be corrected or trained away. Instead, we can explore how you experience the world, recognise what you need, and work out what you might want to accept, change or approach differently.

Counselling in Taunton

I offer face-to-face counselling from my therapy room in central Taunton, Somerset.

For some people, having a separate physical space for therapy makes it easier to step away from everyday life for an hour and focus on themselves.

Online counselling

I also offer online and telephone counselling, giving you the flexibility to access therapy from wherever feels most comfortable and practical for you.

Online therapy is available throughout the UK.

What can we talk about?

People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons. You might want support with anxiety, stress, low mood, burnout, relationships, difficult experiences, self-esteem, identity or periods of change and uncertainty.

Sometimes there isn’t an obvious problem to name. You may simply feel that something needs attention, or want a space where you can think and talk without having to look after anybody else's feelings.

Therapy can give us room to understand what is happening, notice patterns and explore what might help.

Taking the first step

I offer a free 15-minute telephone or online consultation before booking your first session.

It gives us a chance to briefly talk about what has brought you to counselling, for you to ask any questions, and to get a sense of whether working together feels right for you.

Sessions are £70 and I offer both short and longer-term therapy.
